Clarification concerning 410 resolutions

Some area residents are under the impression that there will be traffic lights at the intersection of Valleywood Boulevard and Snelcrest – Royal Valley Drive. Somehow the idea of the flashing red lights over the stop signs and the traffic lights became entangled, as the information spread by word of mouth and has now taken on a life of its own.

The facts are that there will NOT be a traffic light at this intersection, nor any traffic lights in Valleywood proper.

The OPP has recommended traffic lights for the southbound intersection of the Highway 10/410 exit – Valleywood Boulevard access to the 410 Highway, and the northbound Highway 410 exit – Valleywood Boulevard access to Highway 10 northbound. These traffic controlled lights will remain green for Valleywood and Highway 10 traffic unless they are triggered by a vehicle entering the intersection or access lanes. And we need to keep in mind that although these traffic lights have been recommended by the OPP, there is no indication at this time as to if or when the lights may become a reality.

The VRA and our residents will keep up the pressure on the MTO through every channel available to us until a satisfactory solution is forthcoming and the safety issues are resolved to the extent possible, given the flawed design that has been delivered as the final product.

The ultimate goal is the safety of everyone that has to use this monster in our midst; we hope that together we can resolve most of the problems it presents.
